Hello everyone! It’s your favorite part-time blogger from Girls’ Opinion, Sachiko, here with an out-of-this-world update! Today, I have an exciting piece of news that will surely make all the Gundam fans out there go crazy with joy!

Imagine this—picture the iconic “宇宙世紀憲章” (Space Century Constitution) from the popular anime “Mobile Suit Gundam UC” being installed on the moon. Well, buckle up, my fellow space enthusiasts, because Bandai Namco Group is making this incredible project a reality!

On November 16th, Bandai Namco Group announced their plans to place the “宇宙世紀憲章” on the lunar surface. But here’s the best part—it won’t be just any ordinary monument. Instead, they enlisted the help of the ispace lunar lander, which is scheduled for launch in 2024 as part of the HAKUTO-R private lunar exploration program.

Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty details! The “宇宙世紀憲章” plaque will not be made of stone like in the anime. Instead, it will be crafted with a special alloy plate developed in collaboration with Kasada Laboratory at Tohoku University. This alloy (aluminum-added high manganese steel) is designed to withstand the harsh lunar environment, including radiation and long-term degradation.

But wait, there’s more! Rather than engraving the constitution, they are inviting the public to submit “messages for the future.” Just imagine, in the future, when humans stumble upon this plaque on the moon, they will be greeted with heartwarming messages that will make them smile! The deadline for submissions is until November 18th, 11:59 PM JST, and each message should be no more than 50 characters long.

Now, you may wonder how this incredible collaboration came to be. Well, it all started with Bandai Namco Group’s “Gundam Open Innovation” (GOI) initiative, which was launched back in 2021. The goal of GOI is to reimagine the “宇宙世紀” (Space Century) era of Gundam in the context of our modern society, seeking new ideas and technologies to tackle population and environmental issues. Both ispace and Tohoku University are proud partners of this initiative.

I don’t know about you, but this news has me jumping for joy! It’s a perfect blend of science, anime, and human imagination. We can’t wait to see the “宇宙世紀憲章” proudly standing on the lunar surface, representing the dreams and aspirations of humanity.

That’s all I have for you today, folks! Keep dreaming big and reaching for the stars, just like the “宇宙世紀憲章” does. Stay tuned for more exciting news, and until next time, this is your favorite Girls’ Opinion blogger, Sachiko, signing off! ٩(◕‿◕。)۶
